Paintings
I paint in acrylics, often of nature scenes.
I did this painting all in one sitting, without ever letting the individual layers dry. It is not as bright as the photo shows it, but using my camera's flash was necessary to show the texture of the heavy acrylics used. The concept art was done in Adobe Illustrator, with the final text reading (across the top of the larger hill) "My words crumble to dust in the glow of yours" and (along the right side) "If your words crumble, it is only to become stars." It is based on a conversation I once had with someone important to me.
This piece is about finding love in chaos and the chaos inherent to love itself. Life is chaos and love is chaos, but being in love is finding someone to share in the chaos with, and finding that inner peace to share between the two of you, which the couple shown in this painting has found.
These two paintings are the start of a series I am working on. I made a stencil using Photoshop and Illustrator, and then put it over warm-toned acrylic paintings. I want to do a series on passion, and plan to add at least a few more paintings to this series over time.
A study in contrasts, this pair of paintings depicts the desert in saturated colors and heavy brush strokes versus the snow in muted tones and softer application.
I made this self-portrait using no paintbrushes, only a palette knife. It was a new experience for me, and I was surprised to find how much I enjoyed the uniqueness of a palette knife as a painting tool. The texture created was remarkable. The mask overtop the painting was meant to pick up the golden hints to the brown paint, as well as the shadows on my face.
